Matthew has over 20 years of mine development, investment advisory and marketing/trading experience in the mining and energy industries. Until recently Matthew ran Wood Mackenzie’s metals and mining advisory practice in Europe, Africa, Middle East and Russia/CIS and has overseen multiple commercial advisory, strategic investment and project feasibility engagements across the base metals, gold and coal industries. Prior to Wood Mackenzie, he worked for Xstrata in Singapore and Australia, responsible for managing contracting arrangements for new mine developments and establishing Xstrata’s marketing/trading structure in Singapore. Matthew worked closely with the corporate business development team on identifying acquisition targets and markets. Prior to Xstrata, Matthew held various senior positions in the resource industry in Singapore, Australia, PNG and the UK (most recently with BHP Billiton). Matthew has a BSc in Geology from the University of Durham and an MSc in Basin Evolution and Dynamics from University of London.
Leor Ceder has a long successful track record in capital raising transactions in equity and debt for a wide scale of institutions in the developed and developing markets. Prior to Sycamore, Leor was a Managing Director at Goldman Sachs International where he ran the Securities Division’s business in Africa, Turkey, Israel and Central and Eastern Europe. Prior to a ten year career at Goldman Sachs, Leor worked at Deutsche Bank specialising in corporate finance, FX and Interest Rate derivatives. Prior to Deutsche Bank, Leor worked at Credit Suisse in New York managing multi-billion dollar fixed income portfolios for Fortune 500 companies. Leor is a graduate of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, where he received his MBA with a major in Financial Engineering and Risk Management.
Misha has over 8 years of financial industry experience. Previously Misha was responsible for the Central Eastern European Cross Asset client coverage at Goldman Sachs International. His role included origination of structured financing and derivative risk management mandates as well as maintaining high level client relationships on a daily basis. Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, he was an Inter-Dealer Emerging Markets Credit Broker for BGC Partners. Misha graduated from the University of London, Cass Business School, holding a BSc Honours in Investment Financial Risk Management.
Nick joined Sycamore following three years of financial strategy consulting, most recently with Deloitte’s Business Insights practice but also at Harvest Diagnostics (a business he co-founded). These roles won and delivered work ranging from project finance term sheet negotiation for developing operations through to designing automated solutions for financial planning at large blue chip businesses. Prior to this, Nick spent a decade working in banking in advisory, as well as cash equities roles. Highlights were fours years working in the #1 rated mining team at Ambrian Partners and four years running the mining desk at Haitong Securities where his investment recommendations delivered a top decile performance, globally, for four years running. He holds a BSc. (Hons.) in Geology & Geochemistry from the University of Edinburgh.
Andrew has over 15 years of technical advisory experience in the geological exploration and mining industries. Previously Andrew operated his own exploration field services company where he managed and executed field exploration campaigns globally from target generation, mapping and drilling through to Mineral Resource sign-off and compliant reporting. Thereof, Andrew has worked and advised-on a broad range of exploration and mining projects and commodities globally. Until recently, Andrew was the Exploration Manager at Deloitte Consulting, based out of Johannesburg, South Africa. Whilst at Deloitte Consulting, Andrew was responsible for numerous detailed mining audit, due diligence, phased study and technical advisory assignments for capital funds, banks and major and junior mining companies alike. Andrew has also been responsible for the compilation and sign off of various public code compliant technical reports. Andrew has a B.Sc. Hons. in Geology and a B.Sc. in Geology and Environmental Science.
Alan is a UK qualified Solicitor and an Israeli Advocate. Following qualification in the UK while with Freshfields, Alan worked for eight years as a senior adviser and member of the drafting and strategy formulation teams on various agreements within the framework of the Israel Palestinian peace process, including representation at the Camp David Summit in 2000. Alan then returned to the private sector, working as a solicitor in the Finance Department of Clifford Chance followed by legal counsel roles with entities engaging in emerging market projects. Alan graduated from the University of Cambridge with an LL.M and received his LL.B. from the University of Leeds.
Justin has over 20 years of industry experience in geological exploration and mining. Justin joined Sycamore after seven and a half years with AMC Consultants UK as a Principal Geologist and Technical Manager. Prior to working with AMC, Justin ran a small successful resource consultancy based in Johannesburg that specialised in resource estimation and technical solutions across a broad swath of commodity types and deposits within Africa. Justin’s main foci for the last seven years have been resource estimations, technical advice, due-diligence and reviews as well as technical solutions and training across the mining value chain. Justin is a competent and qualified person for a number of mineralization styles and commodities and has been responsible for the sign-off of a number of resource statements in various public code compliant technical reports. Justin has a BSc Honours in Geology and Applied geology as well as a Master of Science in Engineering focusing on geological risk and geostatistics.
Nicholas is a Mining Engineer with experience in technical and operational surface mining practices. Having spent time at the sharp end of the resource industry, he has quickly built a reputation for being a practical problem solver with strong interpersonal skills and a bias for action. Most recently he spent 2 years with Nordgold in Burkina Faso, where he was responsible for an array of mine design work, production schedules and blasting plans for existing and future mining locations. Within this period, Nicholas acted as a mining superintendent on the pit floor which has added insight into what makes an open pit operation tick. Recently he has been involved with strategic mine planning and optimisation schedules for greenfield/brownfield expansion projects. Prior to this Nicholas spent time on secondment in Australia with MPC Kinetic, performing a concept market entry study to evaluate the companies capabilities to enter mining operations within the Bowen Basin. Nicholas is a graduate of the Camborne School of Mines, acquiring a BEng in Mining Engineering. Preceding his university studies he spent 2 years working offshore as a Roustabout on Drilling Rigs both in the North Sea, UK and in the Mediterranean off Egypt.
